LOUISVILLE, KY (May 13, 2015) – Charah®, Inc., a total solutions company providing unparalleled service and innovation for the coal-fired electric utility industry, today announced that it has entered into an agreement to manage and beneficially use the coal combustion products (CCPs) produced by facilities at the Brame Energy Center in Lena, Louisiana owned by Cleco Power LLC, a subsidiary of Cleco Corporation (NYSE: CNL).
As part of this long term agreement, Charah will sell high quality specification grade fly ash, bottom ash and circulating fluidized bed ashes from this facility to ready-mix concrete producers and other end users throughout the region. In addition, Charah will provide routine ash landfill operations for any unsold CCPs at the station.
This contract will provide for beneficial use of high quality fly ash which will serve as a reliable source of ASTM C618 Class C fly ash for regional ready-mix concrete companies. The circulating fluidized bed ashes generated will also be beneficially reused in certain market segments throughout the region including oilfield/oilwell industries and aggregate manufacturing.
