Sulphur, LA location latest addition to growing MultiSource™ Network
LOUISVILLE, KY (May 24, 2017) – Charah®, LLC, the nation’s largest privately-held ash management company, today announced the recent addition of a fly ash storage terminal in Sulphur, LA as part of its expanding MultiSource™ network. MultiSource is Charah’s unique distribution system of multiple sourcing locations across the country, which ensures a steady and reliable supply of Class C and Class F fly ash for ready-mix concrete producers and other Charah customers. Other recent additions include terminals in New England, the Midwest and California.
According to Scott Ziegler, Vice President of Ash Sales and Marketing at Charah, “As one of the leading fly ash sales and marketing companies in the country, we’re ready with a dedicated team of fly ash sales and logistic experts. We have built many excellent relationships with utilities around the country which gives us a real advantage when it comes to providing our customers with a continuous supply of fly ash when and where they need it. We have the fly ash you need and the reliable service you want.”
Additional Louisiana Terminal
As the newest addition to the MultiSource network, Charah’s Sulphur terminal provides builders in the Greater Lake Charles/Sulphur Area with a reliable source of quality Class F fly ash. With the growing number of construction projects in the region, Charah’s MultiSource network ensures a continuity of fly ash supply for area concrete producers by barging ash from other MultiSource locations. The Sulphur terminal is Charah’s second barge-supplied location in Southern Louisiana. The LaPlace, LA terminal currently serves Charah customers in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Worcester Terminal – Worcester, MA
To meet growing demand for fly ash in the Northeast U.S., Charah expanded its MultiSource network in January 2017 with a rail terminal in Worcester, MA located near the Massachusetts Turnpike and major trucking arteries. While the terminal is currently operating as a rail-to-truck transload facility, the installation of product silos will soon increase storage and distribution flexibility to serve customers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
OCM Terminal – Oklahoma City, OK
Growing oilfield work has also increased demand for quality fly ash in the Midwest. Charah’s new terminal in Oklahoma City, OK is able to supply the area from two MultiSource power plant sources and ensure customer needs are met. With easy access to both I-35 and I-40, Charah’s Oklahoma City terminal serves customers throughout the Greater Oklahoma City Metro and surrounding areas.
Fontana Terminal – Fontana, CA
Charah’s MultiSource network’s reach now extends to the West Coast. In California, where coal-fired electricity generation plants at the end of 2015 represented less than 6% of the energy used to serve the state, Charah’s Fontana terminal is able to provide much-needed quality fly ash to the Greater Los Angeles area.
Concrete producers demand the quality and availability that Charah fly ash brings to every project, with all the advantages of added strength, durability, increased workability and improved finish product quality. The use of fly ash in concrete products offers benefits in both the hardened and plastic state of concrete. In addition to improving the finish product quality, using fly ash in concrete products and other applications not only eliminates the need to dispose of fly ash in landfills, it also significantly reduces the overall carbon footprint and conserves our natural resources by replacing materials that would otherwise have to be mined and processed for these products.
