LOUISVILLE, KY (July 15, 2013) – Charah®, Inc., a total solutions company providing unparalleled service and innovation for the coal-fired electric utility industry, announced today that it has been accepted into the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety (MICCS) – Indiana Department of Labor (IDOL) Partnership.
MICCS is a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving zero injury on construction job sites. Members include construction companies, users of construction services (owners), design professionals and construction-affiliated organizations and companies from all parts of Indiana. The MICCS Certification Program was developed in 1996 as a way for construction consumers and contractors to prequalify their subcontractors by providing them with important safety related information in an easily accessible and standard format. This web-based database allows system users to, in mere seconds, view validated safety statistics and information on exhaustive audits MICCS conducts on each participating company.
The program is also the gold standard in safety. To become a “MICCS Certified Company” means that a company’s safety performance is among the top 20% of construction companies in the nation. The program is also a checks and balances for companies when it comes to their safety program through each year. Each year MICCS provide an extensive review of a company’s safety program and validates that the statistics in the program’s database are what was also reported to OSHA. The four status levels in the MICCS Certification Program are Participating, Qualified, Certified and MICCS-IDOL Certified Partner.
“We are honored to be accepted into this partnership in recognition of our uncompromising commitment to safety,” said Charles Price, President and CEO of Charah. “Safety is our foremost priority and we are always exploring new ways to improve our worksites and our employees’ attention to safety.”
